All About Me
My name is Elise Galperin. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Education and an Associate's degree in English, with over 10 years of experience in early childhood development. As a passionate artist and mother of three young boys, I have always found joy in teaching through creativity. My teaching journey has taken me from infants to 18-year-olds across public and private schools, and now into broader outreach efforts—bringing my skill set to a growing city with a high demand for strong early and adolescent educational programs. With a background rooted in public school education, I tailor my curriculum to align with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. (TEKS), ensuring all learners are prepared for future academic success.
I specialize in nurturing early and adolescent development through a blended approach of structure and imagination—embracing both traditional classroom strategies and modern learning modalities. My philosophy centers on honoring each student's unique learning style and individual voice.
Through age-appropriate techniques in art, sensory play, literacy, mathematics, movement, science, culture, and geography, I help students build confidence through exploring possibilities with their unique gifts. Whether engaging in collaborative projects, creative storytelling, early numeracy, or hands-on discovery, I guide students to harness their creativity and curiosity across all subjects, laying a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Workshop Objectives:
The primary objective is to teach students to examine and respond critically to the visual arts while appreciating the artistic process, varied media, and exhibition display. In addition, students will successfully identify artistic movements and specific works of art. Students will be able to develop a critical approach to a given form or forms of art and will be able to articulate an argument in an intelligent and informed manner using art-related terms and a variety of methodologies.
Each session we will cover 5 to 10 images images under the given content area. The art historians will explore the set images through warm ups, varied round table techniques, readings and creating hands on replications of artifacts.

FAQ ART HISTORY
Will we still produce art?
YES ALWAYS!!! Within the workshop we will ALWAYS be creating work with various mediums to apply new knowledge.
Can I still take the studio art workshops?
Yes, studio workshops will be offered to Art History students. You will be eligible to come to 2 of the 4 studio workshop offered in a month for FREE. Extra courses will be $25 to attend. Attending on extended days is allowed.
What is art history?
Art history – the study of art from across the world, and from the ancient to the present day – covers virtually every aspect of human history and experience. This is because it looks at works of art not just as objects, but as a way of understanding the world, and the societies in which they were created.
What were the conscious and unconscious choices that led to an artwork’s form and subject matter? What does its content – how people are represented, how religion is shown – tell you about the society in which it was created, and its history? How was it received when it was first put on display, and how has this changed?
By asking these questions, art historians gain a fascinating insight into how people throughout time and across the world lived, thought, felt and understood everything around them. Developing understanding of these challenges helps us make sense of the relationship between people, art and the forces that shape the world we live in today – and provides us with the critical skills to understand the visual world around us.
