A few months passed. I walked often, ate less, and worried more. I found another job to keep myself afloat. I enrolled in school full-time in the hopes that one day my dreams would become genuine. During some rather lost months, I had met someone. Today, I know that they helped save me. I didn’t know myself, I didn’t have a dream, I was pending reality and loving everyone else but myself. My new friend and I found a framework for this omitted love, thyself, and I got to keep it even after they left me.

My work centers around an emotional narrative on the human condition. The fragmented portraits composed into groups create a visual conversation on impermanence and the collective experience. I begin my process by photographing subjects in their environment. I solidify a moment capturing an expression that establishes a fierce presence through gaze and movement. I collage the photographs along with found images to realize a psychological landscape in which the figures live. I work large scale with mixed media. I use bright colors and gestural line work. The paint application has an unfinished look that touches on ephemerality and lost translations creating a seemingly permeable surface for my subjects. I activate the environment around the paintings to construct a dynamic experience using sound, film, and performance, mimicking a world saturated with information, I create a dialogue between past and future to reflect the present.
